William T. Roark

William Roark Obituary

Bill was born on Feb 16, 1948 in Columbus, OH to Guy and Loretta {Crace} Roark. He was part of a family of seven siblings and was raised in London and Range, OH. 

As a youngster Bill mowed lawns and did farm work for the neighbors around Range.  He. enjoyed playing games and sports of all kinds with his brothers and friends.  Bill graduated from Madison South High School in 1966 then enlisted in the Navy in 1968.  Bill received training as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy and served in Vietnam, the Philippines, England and the United States.  While in Vietnam he served on the battleship USS New Jersey.  In the Philippines he married Lorna Sulit and they had one daughter, April Roark.  After Lorna passed away in the United States, he married Debbie Chaffin and had a son, Josh Roark.  Bill served 20 years in the Navy and retired in 1987.  After the Navy he worked as a radiology technician in South Carolina and Texas.  Bill spent his last 12 years retired in Winnsboro, TX to be close to his children and grandchildren.  

Bill is survived by his daughter, April Roark, son Josh Roark, grandchildren Dakota Whitson, Tristen Roark and Star Boggs; brothers Ron, Doug, Steve, Ken and Jeff Roark and sister Denise Sparks; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Bill’s remains will be cremated at the Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, TX and his ashes will be inurned with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC. at a later date.  A service will be held in Washington at that time.
