Nancy Anne (Morrison) Smith

Nancy A. Smith, 86 of London, died Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Bluebird Retirement Community. She was born March 12, 1936, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Donald A. and Eleanor (Moore) Morrison.

Nancy moved to London in the second grade. She graduated from London high school in 1954. After high school Nancy attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester Minnesota where she graduated in 1957, becoming a registered nurse. She began her career as a registered nurse at Mt. Carmel Hospital. She worked at Madison County Hospital in the early 60’s. Once her children went to school she worked for the Madison County Health Department as a school nurse for Madison Plains, West Jefferson, and Jonathan Alder schools for over 19 years. Because of her love for children in the 1970’s and 1980’s Nancy was elected to four terms on the London City School Board, during her tenure on the school board the new London High School, Middle School, and Elementary school buildings were built. On October 7, 2012, Nancy was elected to the London High School Academic Hall of Fame. Nancy was an avid bridge player and participated in bridge clubs in the London area over the years, gaining many friends.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband James Smith; Siblings: Susan Morrison Andrews McGuire, Donald Morrison, Sally Morrison Shoemaker; Grandchildren: Jasmin Borrman, Danielle Smith, Ryan Smith, Eleanor Geib, Richard Geib; Great Grandchildren: Isaiah Cahill and Chloe Stewart; Sons in law: Marshall Geib and Peter Bormann; Daughter in law: Kathy Smith; Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives, and friends.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; Sister: Leslie Morrison Payne; Children: Jennifer Smith Borrman, James D. Smith, and Martha Smith Geib; Grandson: Clayton Geib.

The family invites friends to call at the First Presbyterian Church of London, 211 Garfield Avenue, London, Ohio 43140, Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 2p to 4p, with a memorial service to begin at 4p officiated by Rev. Désirée M. Youngblood.
