Jack Francis Hughes, 88 of London died Sunday May 17, 2020 in his home. He was born in Franklin County, Ohio on May 17, 1932 to John and Frances (Halterman) Hughes. He was a firefighter, attaining the rank of Captain, served as Fire Marshall for 28 years, also served with Organized Crime Bureau (BCI) as a Fire Marshall, was a minor league baseball player with the Cincinnati Reds Farm Team, was an assistant Scout Master with Troop #104, Cub Master for Pack #104, team trainer for Madison Plains track team and loved to camp.
Survived by his wife Betty (Vannelle) Hughes; children Christine (Steve) Danielson of Laverne, Arizona; Mary (David) Mills of London and Sean (Sue Ellen) Hughes of Delaware, Ohio. Grandchildren Jon, Jessica and Mackenzie; great grandchildren Mikhail Mills, Jayden Mills, Ryse Mills, Shawn Nelson, Kairi Nelson, and Brody Mills; sister in law Jean Denny and niece Jeannie Morgan. He is preceded in death by his parents, great grandchild Liam Mills, brothers Vernon “Bud” Denny and James Hughes and sister Rita Denny.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in Oak Hill Cemetery, with Reverend David Leckrone officiating. Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors or the First Responders.
