John D. Barker, 72, of London, died Thursday, June 28, 2018 in his residence, surrounded by his loving family. John was born September 22, 1945 in Dola, West Virginia, a son of Thomas Clay and Garnet (Holt) Barker. He retired from Navistar International. He greatly enjoyed mowing, landscaping and cruising with his loving family. He loved to watch old cowboy movies and TV shows. He was a member of Elder Rodders Car Club. John is survived by his wife and best friend of 33 years: Sandy (Byers) Barker; sons: Adam (Kim) Barker, Scott (Sarah) Barker; Mother-in-law: Virginia Paul, all of London; mother: Garnet Barker; sister: Betty Roberts of Columbus; brother: Tom Barker of Boston, Massachusetts; grandson: CJ (Morgan); great granddaughter: Lillyanna; numerous nieces and special nephew: Jason Roberts; his adoptive family: Jeff and Ann Cox of Reynoldsburg; his special friend who is like a son: David Yoder of Plain City; his shadow and devoted four-legged best friend who was always by his side: Bentley; and many special friends. The Barker family would like to extend a special thank you to Elizabeth, Sarah, Grant and his entire Hospice team for their care and compassion. John is proceeded in death by his father: Thomas Clay Barker and brother: David Barker. The family invited friends and family to call at the Rader-Lynch & Dodds Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 E. High St., London, Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 11 AM to 1 PM, with a memorial Life Celebration to follow, with Elder Jay Flinn officiating.
