Francis "Francie" Holland Obituary

Francis “Francie” John Holland, 92, of Mount Sterling, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Madison Health emergency room. Francie was born May 4, 1926 in Madison County, in the house in which he raised his family. He was a son of Edward and Bertha (Logsdon) Holland. He was a member of the second graduating class, 1944, at Madison Rural. He was a proud member of the United States Army, serving in WWII and was a life member of the Madison Memorial Post # 105, London and the former H V Christopher V F W Post # 1176, London. Francie was a lifelong member of Saint Patrick Church where he was the longest standing member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Reidy Council # 1786, at 66 years. He was owner/operator of Holland Equipment for 25 years, was a trustee of Oak Run Township for 32 years, and was a lifelong farmer in Madison County. Francie was a member of the Madison County Senior Center, was an avid card player and would never turn down a chance to go fishing. Francie is survived by his children: Loretta (Raymond) Anthony; Brenda (Charles) Cook; Wayne (Carmen) Holland; brother: Raymond Holland; grandchildren: Carrie (Andrew) Fortman, Rachel (Scott) Davis, Katherine (Jeff) Caivano, Natalie (Jeff Saley) Price, Lisa (Seth) Reay, Amy (James) Fox, Joshua (Erin) Holland, Cortney (Kyle) Alspaugh, Erica Holland; fourteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and multitudes of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Thelma (Laibach) Holland on January 21, 2002; son: Edward Holland; daughter: Janice Streit; sister: Mary Margaret Drennen. The family invites friends to call at the Saint Patrick Parish Center, 61 S. Union Street, London, Monday from 4-7 PM. with a wake service to be held at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 10:30 AM., with Father Michael Hinterschied officiating, at the Saint Patrick Church, 61 S. Union Street, London. Interment will follow in the Saint Patrick Cemetery, London. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Saint Patrick Parish Cemetery Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.
