Charles Raymond Peters Jr. (aka Chuck, Charlie, Bubby), died peacefully at Kobacker House on Saturday December 14th from complications of prostate cancer. Born September 23, 1937 in Vinton County Ohio son of Raymond and Josephine (Harkless) Peters. A 1956 graduate of London High School and proudly served 2 years in the United States Navy traveling the world on the USS Cony DDE. Charles went on to participate in the Tool & Dye apprentice program at Westinghouse Corporation eventually heading on to General Motors, retiring in 1998. A founding member of the Central Township Fire Department, Charles served as Chief from 1966 - 1986 selflessly protecting the community. Before his health declined he enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping and attending naval reunions with shipmates. Charles especially enjoyed being a grandpa and a great-grandpa to his 13 grandchildren. He is survived by his long-time loving wife of 56 years June (Rea). Children, LeeAnn (Jason) Robertson, Deanna (Jeff) Loudon, Chad (Molly) Peters. Grandchildren Tiffany (Megan Garland) Brock, JJ & Allison Robertson, Olivia & Lillian Loudon, Colten Winters, Eli North, and Charley Peters. Great-Grandchildren Alina Brock, Emmalee Garland & Natalee Garland. Brothers and Sisters: Beverly (Robert) Turvy, Norman (Beverly) Peters, Margie (Gary) Butz, and Nancy Doty. Many nephews, nieces and cousins. His beloved pet cat “Peanut”. Special childhood friends Dick Minner. Special friends that helped to support Charles and June over the years Charlie Summers, John Hopkins, Frank Conway, Bruce Hoover, Pat O’Neil, his home care Nurse Emily Beck. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Norman Doty and special friends Gary Groves, Jon Taylor, and Gene Bennett. Friends may pay respect at Rader-Lynch & Dodds Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 124 E. High St., London, with calling hours on Wednesday December 18th from 4:00 - 7:00pm and Thursday December 19th from 10:00 - 11:00. A brief graveside service will take place Thursday immediately following at Deercreek Cemetery. Donations can be made to Central Township Fire Department or Madison County Humane Society on behalf of Charles. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
