Anne J. (Babnic) Adams

Anne J. Adams, 86, of Struthers, Ohio, died Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus. Mrs. Adams was born February 16, 1932 in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of Andy and Helen (Kubek) Babnic. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and then Youngstown State University, with a degree in Education. She taught first grade for 31 years at Saint Patrick Elementary school in Hubbard, Ohio. She was a lifelong member of Saint Matthias Catholic Church in Youngstown. Anne was a lifetime member of Slovak Catholic Sokol, Wreath 54, where she was currently serving as secretary. She also was a member of Jednota, the first Catholic Slovak union. For many years Anne participated in the Sokol Bowling League, the Saint Anthony Bocce league, and the PYBS golf league. Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, Joseph P. “Joe” Adams; son: Greg (Lisa) Adams of Plain City; brother: Robert Babnic of Poland, Ohio; grandchildren: Lindsay Adams of Grandview; Daniel Adams of Suwanee, Georgia; nieces and nephews: Robert (Cyndi) Babnic, Frank Bielecki, Andrew Bielecki, Janice (Kevin) Allard; Gerald (Pauline) Shirilla, Judith Shirilla, Patricia (Brian) Kuipers, Kenneth Zajac, Thomas (Diane) Zajac; sister-in-law: Irene Zajac; brother-in-law: Frank Bielecki Sr.. She has been preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Mary Gallear; Margaret Bielecki; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Shirilla; Dorothy Babnic; brothers-in-law: Frank Zajac; Danny Shirilla; nephew: Anthony Bielecki. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made, in Anne’s memory, to a favorite charity.
